About O.R.I.
What is O.R.I.?
O.R.I. is accident insurance specifically designed and created for snow, mountain and paddle enthusiasts.
If you have an accident during a covered activity, we pay benefits to you for ambulance and medical expenses and will also make a lump sum payment in case of accidental death.
If You Have Health Insurance:
- Getting injured is usually painful, and so is going out of pocket for the cost-sharing components of your health plan. Our accident benefits are there to pay toward the deductibles, co-insurance amounts and other co-pays imposed by your health insurance.
- Think your health plan might deny claims for "dangerous" activities such as climbing or backcountry skiing? O.R.I. coverage can provide a solid backstop against that risk.
If you Don't Have Health Insurance:
- If you're actively involved in one or more of our covered activities, then O.R.I. accident insurance is a low-cost way to help pay for medical and ambulance expenses. Please keep in mind, however, that O.R.I. coverage only pays benefits for specifically covered activities and does not cover illness or disease.
- Think about how much money you spend on gear... does any of that gear help you pay for ambulance and medical expenses if you get hurt?

Covered activities are grouped into three categories, Snow, Mountain and Paddle. You can purchase a single coverage category or purchase Combo coverage.

Benefits
O.R.I. benefits include:
- $10,000 in medical and ambulance expenses per coverage category (Snow, Mountain, Paddle) and
- $10,000 lump sum payment in case of a covered accidental death.
Unlike Typical Insurance
- You pay NO "CO-INSURANCE" (percentage of charges)
- You make NO "CO-PAYMENTS" (flat-fee charges for specific services)
- You may pay NO DEDUCTIBLE because we'll waive our deductible if you use O.R.I. benefits to pay a deductible under your health plan or health insurance policy.
Benefits are paid directly to the ORI insured unless you ask ORI to pay your benefits to one or more medical providers (frequently a good idea). There is no ORI deductible to pay if you use ORI benefits to pay a deductible under your health plan or health insurance policy. If ORI is your only source of coverage for ambulance and medical expenses, then a $500 deductible applies.
